Intro Course - Wednesdays (updated)
Introductory Course with Sophie Boller
Four Wednesdays, 7:30 - 9:00pm, May 7 – May 28
For students new to yoga or new to the Iyengar method, this course introduces the basic poses, principles of movement and posture, yoga philosophy and simple relaxation techniques.
In Iyengar yoga, weak parts are strengthened and stiff parts are stretched, thus awakening and realigning the whole body. Benefits include increased vitality and the reduction of stress and anxiety.
This is a four-session course, a cumulative experience with each class building on the one before it. The course is limited to 15 students and the needs of each individual are addressed. Although not required before entering Level 1 classes at IYILA, this course is a great way to begin your study of Iyengar yoga or to refresh your understanding of the basics of the method.
All props, including yoga mats, are provided. Wear shorts or tights & come with an empty stomach. Yoga is practiced with bare feet.
PRECAUTIONS: Please advise your teacher before class if you have any significant health issues (surgeries, high blood pressure, etc.) are pregnant or menstruating so that alternative poses may be suggested.
Stephanie Quirk
Two workshops
Tuesday, May 13: 5:30-7:30 pm
Wednesday, May 14: 9am-11am (updated!)

New Zealander Stephanie Quirk has made her home in Pune, India for over 12 years, studying and working directly with Shri B.K.S. Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune. She has served as an assistant teacher in both the General and Therapeutic classes, and also assisted Geetaji on her recent teaching trips to North America, Australia and Europe.
Stephanie is trained as a nurse, artist, drawn to philosophy and immersed in yoga at the source. She is appreciated by students at RIMYI for the clarity and directness of her instructions, adjustments and explanations.
We are thrilled that she will be teaching two classes here at IYILA, giving you the chance to sample the type of class you would attend if you were able to go to the Institute in India.

PARKING AT IYILA
PLEASE RESPECT OUR NEIGHBORS RIGHTS BY NOT PARKING IN THEIR RESTRICTED PARKING SPACES. YOUR CAR WILL BE TOWED!
Parking behind the Institute is limited for every business sharing our lot, please respect their needs and the law by not parking in unauthorized spaces.
Our neighbors have the right to tow your car and due to unintentional recent parking infringements by some of our students, they have informed us that they will excercise that right should your car infringe on the ability for them to conduct business.
We understand this is frustrating, it affects all of us.
There is ample 2hr. parking at most times on Sweetzer, south of 3rd. as well as other neighboring streets.
We have a map detailing the various restrictions to help you.
Please download the map and try to find alternative and legal parking when the spaces behind the Institute are full.
