The brief aphorisms of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras are meant to be memorized. This process and study sheds light on yoga philosophy and practice. Learning to chant in the traditional call and response method with precise attention to sound and rhythm facilitates correct pronunciation and can be quite joyful.
For these classes, we will focus on the first sutras from chapters 1 and 2. These sutras define yoga and bring perspective to what, how and why we practice. Working with particular themes from this classical text on yoga, Linda will help bring its teachings into vivid relevance for our everyday lives.
Copies of the chants will be provided.
